Revised Star Council Criteria
Fraternal Mission announced revised Star Council criteria for this fraternal year, in light of the way that the coronavirus has upended typical council and parish operations. Part of that announcement included revisions to council insurance quotas. We have been working with Fraternal Mission for some time to reevaluate council insurance quotas, and – prior to the outbreak of the virus – had been conducting a pilot in seven jurisdictions. The revised insurance quotas announced yesterday extends elements of that pilot to all jurisdictions. As stated in Tom McCaffrey’s memo, councils will satisfy their insurance quota and achieve the Founders Award, if: • They host a virtual or in person benefits seminar with their field agent prior to June 30, or • They achieve 50% of their original insurance quota. This applies to all U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions. For those of you who are in the seven jurisdictions that were in the original pilot, these new criteria (stated above) apply to you as well. This presents a tremendous opportunity for all of you to work with your councils and run highquality fraternal benefits nights that showcase our tremendous products, and you, our agents. Two compliant presentations have been developed for your use during these nights. Both of these presentations may be found on the KofC University on the Agent Portal under the Course Catalog. We expect to have French and Spanish versions available in the near future.
In order for a virtual or in person benefits night to count, it must: • Be promoted by the council to its members. • Be reported by the general agent in writing to CouncilGrowth@kofc.org. No other methods will be accepted. There is no minimum number of attendees required, but every effort must be made to make this a significant event. One-on-one meetings between the agent and grand knight, for example, will not count. In cases where agents have multiple councils, agents may hold one, large night for multiple councils, and, provided that all councils promote the night, and members from all councils attend, that night can count for all of those councils. This is a significant change that is being adopted quickly, but it is being done in light of an unprecedented crisis that none of us could have predicted. Thank you for your patience through these changes and for seizing the tremendous opportunity they provide.
We are in this together, we will get through this together
